In the 29th of a 32-part series, we will feature all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Today we will look at the Seattle Seahawks.

Key Off Season Acquisitions

The biggest move the Seahawks made in the offseason was a trade with the Denver Broncos. We all know that their star quarterback Russell Wilson went to Denver. In return, the Seahawks received quarterback Drew Lock, defensive end Shelby Harris, and tight end Noah Fant. Lock is projected to be a backup at this time to Geno Smith. Fant is set to be the starting tight end and Harris is  set to be the starting defensive end. In 2021, Fant had 68 receptions for 670 yards and four touchdowns. Harris had 49 combined tackles (24 solo tackles and 25 assisted tackles), seven tackles for a loss, 11 quarterback hits, six sacks, two pass deflections and one forced fumble.

The Seahawks also signed center Austin Blythe of Williamsburg, Iowa to a one-year contract worth $4 million. The Seahawks are Blythe’s fourth NFL franchise following one season with the Indianapolis Colts, four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and one season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

On defense, the Seahawks signed linebacker Uchenna Nwosu of Carson, California. He had 40 combined tackles (24 solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles), eight tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hits, one interception for two yards, four pass deflections, five sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery last season with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Seahawks will also be projected to start cornerbacks Coby Bryant and Tariq Woolen. Bryant was the fourth pick, 109th overall, from the University of Cincinnati, and Woolen was the fifth pick, 153rd overall from the University of Texas-San Antonio.

Fantasy Star

D.K. Metcalf of Oxford, Mississippi is the 10th ranked wide receiver in fantasy football. He had 75 catches for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2021. Due to the Seahawks quarterback change, you expect Metcalf to have less production in 2022. Metcalf was a Pro Bowl wide receiver in 2020. That year he had 83 catches for 1303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Projected Finish

The Seahawks are in a definite era of transition. They are expected to be in the basement in the NFC West.
