Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey is simply continuing his remarkable play on the golf course as the number one ranked player in the world. This past weekend he successfully defended his title at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

Scheffler posted a four round score of -10, after winning the tournament with a score of -8 last year. This year Scheffler won in more dominant fashion. A year ago he only beat Collin Morikawa of Los Angeles, California by a single stroke. In 2025, Scheffler beat his closest competitor, Ben Griffin of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, by four strokes. Griffin has been red hot as of late too. He won a week ago at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Scheffler got off to a slow start at the 2025 Memorial. He had a first round score of -2, and a second round score of -2. It was in the third round where Scheffler posted a score of four-under-par 68 to move from -4 to -8. Scheffler then shot another score of -2 to improve to -10.

Scheffler became the second golfer ever to win the Memorial in consecutive years. Tiger Woods of Cypress, California won the Memorial three straight years from 1999 to 2001.

This was Scheffler’s 16th PGA Tour victory and third of 2025. He also won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and PGA Championship (third major title following the 2022 and 2024 Masters).

Scheffler will now skip the Canadian Open this weekend in Toronto. He will next compete at the 2025 United States Open. That will commence on June 12 at the Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
