Scottie Scheffler dominates field in winning 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational

Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey is the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational for the second time. On Sunday, Scheffler posted a four-round score of -15 to beat reigning United States Open champion Wyndham Clark of Denver, Colorado by five strokes.
Scheffler’s score of six-under-par 66 on Sunday was the lowest score among all 58 golfers who made the cut in the final round. He had six birdies and zero bogeys. Scheffler birdied the first, sixth, 10th, 11th, 15th, and 16th holes.
Scheffler also had an eagle in the tournament. It came in the second round on Friday when he posted a score of three on the par five 12th hole.
Heading into the final round, Scheffler, and 2019 British Open champion Shane Lowry of Clara County, Ireland were tied for the lead at -9. However in the final round, Lowry could not generate any momentum as he had to settle for a score of even.
Scheffler previously won the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational. That was a much different looking tournament than this this year when he was victorious with a score of -5. The three players Scheffler beat by a stroke were American Billy Horschel, Norway’s Viktor Hovland and England’s Tyrrell Hatton.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational is one of two PGA events Scheffler has won twice. The other was the 2022 and 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
In all, Scheffler has won seven PGA tournaments, all within the last two years. Scheffler has also won the 2022 World Golf Championship Dell Technologies Match Play event in Austin, Texas, the 2022 Masters and the 2023 Players Championship.
