Sandown Preview: Zahra’s Filly Sells Speed
3 years ago - Sportingbase
FLEMINGTON trainer Simon Zahra set his sights on the $1 million The Showdown after his speedy filly Shesallshenanigans strolled in with the Bendigo Gold Rush over 1000 metres in late March.
Zahra though had to be persuaded by her jockey Linda Meech that she could run out a strong 1200 metres.
“The first question I asked after the win to Linda was would she get 1200m and she said she couldn’t find a reason why she wouldn’t,” Zahra told Racing.Com this week.
Zahra said Shesallshenanigans was a very fast filly who had improved with racing and had learnt to settle.

“Obviously her biggest asset is her speed but she’s learning to relax.”
“What impressed me the other day was when Linda (Meech) said come back a little bit she dropped the bridle and her head down,” Zahra said.
Top Sport has installed Shesallshenanigans as a $3 favourite.
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have two smart horses in the race which are Butch Cassidy ($9.50) and Critique ($5).
Cranbourne trainer Michael Trotter who only trains two two-year-olds has managed to get them both into the race.
They are last start runner-up in the Redoute’s Choice Stakes Apache Song and Gold Dash third placegetter Beaunified.
Trotter told Racing.Com he expects them both to run big races. Apache Song is a $5 chance and Beaunified is $71.
