According to Ed McGrogan of tennis.com, San Francisco will host the 2025 Laver Cup. The team tennis competition has the best tennis players from Europe versus the best players from the rest of the world. The event will take place at the Chase Center, which is the host stadium for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association.

In Laver Cup history, Europe won the first four editions from 2018 to 2021. The 2021 Laver Cup was completely dominated by Team Europe by a score of 14-1. In the European win, Russia’s Andrey Rublev won one singles match and two doubles matches. In one doubles match Rublev teamed up with Stefanos Tsitsipsas of Greece, and in another match Rublev teamed up with Alexander Zverev of Germany.

Team World has won the last two Laver Cups. In 2022, Team World beat Team Europe 13-8 in London, England, and in 2023, Team World beat Team Europe 13-2 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2022, Team World was led by Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime and Americans Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. Auger-Aliassime and Tiafoe came through with gigantic wins on the final day of the event. Auger-Aliassime defeated world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia 6-3, 7-6. Tiafoe defeated Tsitsipas 1-6, 7-6, [10-8]. In 2023, American Ben Shelton won three matches.

There is no doubt that the Laver Cup is building steam, but until it is recognized by the ATP Tour, it will still be recognized in global tennis an exhibition event. The 2024 Laver Cup will be at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany from September 20 to 22.
