Robert MacIntyre wins 2024 Scottish Open

For the second time this season, Robert MacIntyre of Oban, Scotland has won on the PGA Tour. After winning the Canadian Open last month, MacIntyre won the Scottish Open on Sunday. It is interesting that MacIntyre’s two PGA victories have come outside the United States.

In all, there have been only five PGA events in 2024 that have taken place outside of the United States. Jake Knapp of Costa Mesa, California won the Mexico Open on February 25, Brice Garnett of Gallatin, Missouri won the 2024 Puerto Rico Open on March 10, and Billy Horschel of Grant, Florida won the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic on April 21.

This past weekend at the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Beswick, Scotland, MacIntyre posted a four round score of -18 to beat Australian Adam Scott of Adelaide, the 2013 Masters champion, by one stroke, and France’s Romain Langasque by three strokes. Scott finished at -17, and Langasque finished at -15.

MacIntyre had an opening round score of three-under-par, a second round score of five-under-par, a third round score of seven-under-par, and a fourth round score of three-under-par 67. During the tournament, MacIntyre had two eagles. He accomplished the feat on the par four fifth hole on Saturday in the third round, and then the par five 16th hole on Sunday in the fourth round.

This is the first of two significant golf tournaments in Scotland. The British Open starts on Thursday from the Old Course at Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland. This is the final major of the year.
