Reynolds scare: Broncos halfback says it’s ‘not too serious’ after reinjuring knee

Adam Reynolds reinjured his previously hurt right knee on Thursday, the Brisbane Broncos medical team has confirmed, but the club skipper was quick to declare “it’s nothing” too bad as he awaits further scans.
The Broncos halfback had preliminary scans after going off halfway through Brisbane’s victory against South Sydney on Thursday with a concern for his previously injured knee.

The 33-year-old was previously sidelined after rupturing his ACL on the same knee, so when he left the field in the 70th minute there was worried murmurs around the ground. Reynolds seemed to be carrying some kind of niggle for a lot of the second half before he was hooked, with club staff working on him several times.
According to the halfback though, it’s all nothing to worry about.
“Just stirred up what was already there,” Reynolds told media after round two.
“It’s pretty sore,” he added. “Felt okay during the game. Felt a little bit before half time, and thought it’d be right to get back out there, but sort of hurt in that tackle. “The plan is to get a scan in the morning. It’s just a knee injury. It’s nothing. Not too serious.”
When several journalists pushed about whether it was a medial injury, Reynolds admitted “it’s along those lines,” but didn’t say anymore.
“The scans show Adam got a knock to a low-grade MCL strain that he sustained in round one,” Broncos head of performance Dave Ballard later confirmed in an injury statement released on the Brisbane club website. “We’ll see how he pulls up over the next 24 hours before mapping out a rehab program for the coming days.

“Adam is tough and looks after his body but we still have a full season ahead of us so our priority is ensuring he is ready to go when he returns.”
