Redzel Wins Second Consecutive Everest Trophy & Takes His Earnings to $15.3m

Champion sprinter Redzel yesterday took out his second consecutive Everest win and has surpassed Maybe Diva as Australia’s second highest prize money earner with $15.3 million in earnings, right behind superstar Winx with $19.8 million.
Redzel gave nothing else a chance, bounding out of the gates to lead easily before cruising up the Randwick rise and producing his trademark sprint at the 300m.
Trapeze Artist held on for second 1.3 lengths back and Osborne Bulls flew down the outside rail 1.5 lengths further behind.
The Sporting Base ambassador Kerrin McEvoy was humble after another group 1 victory aboard Redzel.
“Having done it last year put me in good stead for this year. I had a nice amount of confidence that the horse was going to do well given the rain”, McEvoy said.
“I was a bit more relaxed today, last year was a whirlwind”.
“It’s amazing and I’m really thrilled,” he added. “This race is just going to get bigger and better.”
The racing world now casts its’ eye to Melbourne’s Spring Carnival with the running of the Caufield Cup next weekend.
