Redfern take two: Bennett agrees to terms on $3m South Sydney reunion
2 years ago - Sportingbase
Wayne Bennett will be coming back to Redfern in 2025, with the 74-year-old NRL supercoach expected to sign South Sydney’s three-year, $3 million deal during Magic Round this weekend.
Rabbitohs brass have already been in Queensland since Monday thrashing out the finer details of the contract that may well be Bennett’s last in the NRL.

While the $3 million figure seems huge for the Bunnies, the Sydney Morning Herald has reported that a lot of the pay packet includes “performance bonuses aligned with South Sydney’s results”—though considering Bennett took the club to two preliminary finals and a grand final between 2019 and 2021, that pay is likely.
The only major stopper may be Bennett backflipping sometime this weekend.
It’s happened before with the supercoach; he famously agreed to join the Sydney Roosters before shooting down the arrangement and more recently he agreed to return to the Dragons before later skewering the bargain.

Should things go well, however, the Rabbitohs will announce the deal sometime over the weekend or once the Magic Round celebrations have wrapped up at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
