The Canberra Raiders have locked up State of Origin forward Corey Horsburgh through to the 2027 NRL season to put the icing on an already stellar year for the gamebreaking lock.

Horsburgh enjoyed a monster 2023, which has now been rounded out with a two-year extension. He originally had a deal with Canberra through to 2025 (with one year a player option) but has pledged for more seasons.

This year, Horsburgh finally earned an Origin jumper, running out in game three for the Queensland Maroons. In clubland, he played 22 games for the Raiders, who finished eighth and were eliminated by the Newcastle Knights in the first round of finals. He boasted a 95 percent tackle efficiency and chalked up 27 offloads.

Since debuting for the Raiders in 2019 he has played 80 games for the club in the nation’s capital. He also spent two games with the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2021 to help them after their roster was run through by injuries.

Fellow Green Machine pack member Hudson Young also recently re-signed with the club, giving the Raiders an incredible base with which to build match victories.

Horsburgh especially believes Canberra can achieve even more in the next four seasons he’s with the team.

“I’m really happy to be remaining in Canberra and re-signing with the Raiders, the club that has given me the opportunity to play NRL and this year Origin,” Horsburgh said after the deal was officially announced on Wednesday.

“I want to keep building and improving my game and I’m really excited about staying with the Raiders and continuing to become a better player and help this club achieve success.”

The 25-year-old joins Sebastian Kris, Joseph Tapine, and Young in playing for the Raiders until 2027. Corey Harawira-Naera is also locked in until at least the end of 2026.
