Ravens sign Odell Beckham Jr. to one-year deal worth $15 million

It appears the Baltimore Ravens still want Lamar Jackson as their quarterback after all for the 2023 National Football League season. On Sunday, the Ravens signed unrestricted free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana to a one-year deal worth $15 million according to Mike Florio of NBC Sports. Beckham Jr. becomes a primary offensive target for Jackson that the Ravens have been looking for, and in the process could convince their veteran quarterback to stay.

The Ravens become the fourth team that Beckham Jr. has played for, following the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Los Angeles Rams. He has not played since Super Bowl LVI, when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in a 23-20 Rams win over the Cincinnati Bengals. In the game, Beckham Jr, caught two passes for 52 yards and one touchdown. The major score was a 17-yard catch from Matt Stafford which opened the scoring.

In eight NFL seasons, Beckham Jr. has 531 catches for 7367 receiving yards and 56 touchdown catches. Twice Beckham Jr, has led the NFL in a statistical category. In his rookie season of 2014 while with the Giants, he had a NFL-high 108.8 receiving yards per game. Then in 2016 with the Giants, Beckham Jr. had 13.5 average scrimmage yards per touch.

During Beckham Jr.’s first three NFL seasons, he was selected to the Pro Bowl while with New York. He had 91 catches for 1305 receiving yards and 12 touchdown catches in 2014, 96 catches for 1450 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches in 2015, and 101 catches for 1367 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches in 2016.
