Randwick Preview: Elvis Ready To Break Hoodoo

ALTHOUGH on paper Looks Like Elvis struggles at Randwick, his trainer Jarrod Austin doesn’t believe this is the case as he prepares to tackle the Listed Carrington Stakes (1400 metres) there on Saturday.

Looks Like Elvis has had ten starts at the track for a second and two thirds and can also boast a fifth in the Epsom Handicap behind Probabeel in 2020 where he was only 1.6 lengths from her.

Looks Like Elvis will also have the services of Brett Prebble who made a great start to his Sydney stint with a double at Rosehill last Saturday and he’s since added another two winners this week.

Austin told Racing NSW that Looks Live Elvis had drawn well in barrier four and should be able to land closer to the lead than he had at his past two starts.

He’s shown what he can do at Randwick, he’s run an almighty race in an Epsom and some good races when we’ve had a bit of luck,” Austin said.

Austin said often Looks Like Elvis had drawn out and had to get too far back as a result.
Looks Like Elvis has had four starts over 1400 metres at Randwick for a second in the 2021 Group 3 Bill Ritchie Stakes and a third in the Civic Stakes last June his best efforts.

Prebble rode Looks Like Elvis at his last start when he finished second to Corner Pocket at Flemington on New Year’s Day over 1400 metres.

“It’s a huge bonus for us to have him on again, Brett’s ridden him twice and both times the horse has performed very well.”

Prebble also won on him at his only other ride on him which was at Pakenham in December 2021.

Looks Like Elvis is a $4.40 chance with TopSport.
