According to Dan Greenspan of the Associated Press on Wednesday, Los Angeles Rams tight end Brycen Hopkins of Nashville, Tennessee was suspended three games on Wednesday for violating the National Football League substance abuse policy. Hopkins was the backup tight end on the Rams roster, only behind Tyler Higbee of Atlanta, Georgia.
Hopkins only has one regular season catch in 12 regular season games over three seasons with the Rams organization. It came in a 20-10 Rams win over the Seattle Seahawks on December 21, 2021. Hopkins caught a nine-yard pass from Matt Stafford at 3:30 of the second quarter.
Despite only having one catch all of last year in the regular season, Hopkins saw significant playing time in Super Bowl LVI. With Higbee not playing because of a knee injury and Kendall Blanton of Blue Springs, Missouri out with a shoulder injury, Hopkins saw plenty of action, and had the best game of his life in the biggest game of his career. He caught four passes for 47 yards from quarterback Matt Stafford in a 23-20 Los Angeles win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hopkins played his college football at Purdue University. He was drafted in the fourth round, 136th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. In addition to playing tight end, Hopkins has seen playing time on the Rams special teams.
Brycen Hopkins’s father Brad Hopkins played 13 seasons in the NFL from 1993 to 2005 with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans organization. An offensive tackle from Columbia, South Carolina, Brad was selected to two Pro Bowls while with the Titans in 2000 and again in 2003.
