Raiders sign safety Jamal Adams

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed safety Jamal Adams of Lewisville, Texas according to Matthew Huff of The Sports Daily on Thursday. The overall terms (length of contract and financial details) have not yet been made available.

Adams is joining his fifth NFL franchise, and is reuniting with his former head coach Pete Carroll of San Francisco in Nevada. He was a safety for four seasons in Seattle with Carroll as his coach from 2020 to 2023. In addition to playing for the Seahawks, Adams played three seasons with the New York Jets from 2017 to 2019, and shared last season with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions. In five games last season, Adams had seven combined tackles (four solo tackles and three assisted tackles).

In 2025, Adams only played three games with the Titans due to a hip injury. He was released from the Titans at his request on October 17. Adams joined the Lions in December and was a member of the Lions for a month before the playoffs began.

Adams was a Pro Bowl strong safety for the Jets in 2018 and 2019. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for a third straight season as a strong safety when he joined the Seahawks in 2020. However, according to Billy Heyen of The Sporting News on Thursday, Carroll has intentions of moving Adams from strong safety to linebacker.

There are two former high profile Seahawks players joining Carroll in Seattle. The other is quarterback Geno Smith of Miramar, Florida, who the Raiders acquired via a trade.
