Raiders sign safety Damarious Randall from the Browns

The Las Vegas Raiders attempted to improve their defense on Tuesday by signing safety Damarious Randall of Pensacola, Florida to a one year contract worth $3.25 million according to Josh Dubow of Yahoo! Sports. Randall played the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns after beginning his National Football League career with the Green Bay Packers where he spent three seasons starting in 2015.

In 2019, Randall played 11 games for the Browns. Despite not recording an interception during the season for the first time in his career, he did record his first two and a half sacks as a NFL player. Randall got his first career NFL sack on September 29 in a 40-25 Browns upset win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Randall also had 61 combined tackles (45 solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss and three quarterback hits. He also recorded the first three quarterback hits of his NFL career.

In 65 NFL career games, Randall has 14 interceptions for 232 yards, two touchdowns from interceptions, two fumble recoveries, two and a half sacks, 290 combined tackles (243 solo tackles and 47 assisted tackles), 11 tackles for a loss and three quarterback hits. He was originally drafted in the first round, 30th overall. in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Arizona State.

It should be noted that Randall was only a safety since joining the Browns in 2018. While with the Packers from 2015 to 2017, he was a cornerback.

In addition to football, Randall was a high performance baseball player growing up. He also played one year of baseball at Butler Community College in Kansas before making the full time switch to football.
