PSG Could Sell Neymar Or Mbappe To Pay FFP Debt

Neymar or Kylian Mbappe may hit the transfer market as PSG look to pay off their staggering £153million Financial Fair Play debt.

The Ligue 1 giants have continuously denied they need to sell players, but fresh reports in Spain suggest a sale is inevitable.

PSG spent a world-record £198m on Neymar and £166m on Mbappe but now have to balance the books.

The history-making deals triggered a Uefa probe into the Ligue 1 giants’ finances, with worrying results for the club.

Mediapart report that PSG will have to pay back around £170m Euros to appease FFP – which means selling one of the stars in 2019.

PSG could be excluded from the Champions League if they are found to have breached FFP rules.

Mbappe, on the other hand, is younger – and a French World Cup winner – and would be looked on as the better asset. He’s also been in terrific form this season.

The French giants are expecting to make a number of sales in the upcoming transfer windows.

Manchester City are being tipped to use Gabriel Jesus as bait to land Mbappe in a stunning player-plus-cash deal in January.

Reports in Spain suggest City will offer PSG £130m and Jesus in a desperate bid to land the World Cup-winning forward.

Elsewhere, Adrien Rabiot could be sold on a cut-price deal in January after he refused to renew his contract – set to expire this summer.

And PSG are lining up a cheaper alternative in the middle of the park – with Southampton’s Mario Lemina set to replace the France international.

PSG were sanctioned in 2014 when discrepancies were found in commercial dealings by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB).

The case has now opened and an investigation is underway into the club’s finances for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons.

Last month French newspaper L’Equipe report they could face trouble for deals signed with Qatari entities that were far above market value.

PSG do not agree with the decision to reopen the case and have decided to go before the Court of Arbitration for Sport to appeal.

The club’s contracts with the Qatari entities, principally the Qatar Tourism Authority, have already been reduced by 37 percent from the year 2015 after the previous UEFA investigation.

The Adjudicatory Chamber sanctioned PSG on the condition the club kept its deficit below €30 million (£26.5 million).

However the case has now been reopened after a court decided that condition was inadequate and have ordered a deeper review of the accounts.

The review into the accounts could affect PSG adversely as the club could be found to have been able to keep its deficit below €30 million using income from inflated contracts with Qatari enterprises from 2013 to 2015, according to L’Equipe.

Reports suggest if PSG are found guilty of using inflated contracts to balance their books for a second time by UEFA they could be banned from entering the Champions League.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport is currently looking into the case.
