Possibility 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw could miss 2024 season

According to Brandon Glick of givemesport.com on Monday, there is a high possibility that San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw of Conway, Arkansas will miss the entire 2025 National Football League regular season. That is because Greenlaw tore his Achilles during the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Greenlaw’s injury was reportedly a non-contact injury. It happened as he ran on to the field during the second quarter. The injury was significant because the Chiefs moved the football a lot more effectively in the second half with Greenlaw on the sidelines.
Greenlaw has one more season left on his contract with the 49ers. In September of 2022, he signed a two-year contract extension, of which $10 million was guaranteed, that would take him to the end of the 2024 season.
A veteran linebacker, Greenlaw has been with the 49ers since 2019. He was the 49ers’ fifth round pick, 148th overall, in the 2019 NFL Draft. In 15 games with the 49ers in 2023, Greenlaw had 120 combined tackles (75 solo tackles, 45 assisted tackles, five tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, 13 yards on a lateral from an interception by Fred Warner of San Marcos, California, four pass deflections, and 1.5 sacks).
This is the second time in three years there has been a significant injury in the Super Bowl. In 2022, Odell Beckham Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana tore his anterior cruciate ligament in a 23-20 Rams win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He did not play the entire 2022 season, and was not on the field until the mid-point of 2023, after signing with the Baltimore Ravens.
