According to nba.com on Sunday, there was a significant trade made in the National Basketball Association between the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons. The Pistons traded center Marvin Bagley III of Tempe, Arizona to the Wizards with power forward Isaiah Livers of Kalamazoo, Michigan and future draft considerations to the Wizards for power forward Danilo Gallinari of Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Italy, and center Mike Muscala of St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Out of the four players involved in the deal, the most effective player this season has been Bagley III (pictured as number 35 for Detroit). He is averaging 10.2 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, and one assist per game. He has a field goal percentage of .591, free throw percentage of .820, and three point percentage of .167.

Bagley III’s most significant game this season came on November 14 in a 126-120 Detroit Pistons loss to the Atlanta Hawks. He had a double-double, as he had 22 points and 11 rebounds. Bagley III also had 22 points in a 119-111 Pistons loss to the Utah Jazz on December 21. The losses to the Hawks and Jazz came during the Pistons’s 28 game losing streak, the longest in NBA history. Ironically, when the Pistons ended the streak on December 30 with a 129-127 win over the Toronto Raptors, Bagley III was inactive.

The Wizards are Bagley III’s third NBA team. He was previously with the Sacramento Kings from 2018 to 2022, and the Detroit Pistons from 2022 to 2024. While with the Kings, Bagley III was on the NBA All-Rookie team. That season he had a career-high 14.9 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Livers has spent the last three seasons with the Pistons. As for Gallinari, he is joining his seventh  NBA team. He has previously played for the New York Knicks from 2008 to 2011, the Denver Nuggets from 2011 to 2017, the Los Angeles Clippers from 2017 to 2019, the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2019 to 2020, the Atlanta Hawks from 2020 to 2022, and the Washington Wizards in 2023. Twice in his career Gallinari has torn his anterior cruciate ligament. Muscala meanwhile is also joining his seventh team. He has previously played for the Atlanta Hawks from 2013 to 2018, the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers in 2018 and 2019, the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2022 to 2023, and Boston Celtics and Wizards in 2023.
