The Detroit Pistons finished on top of the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-104 at Little Caesars Arena in one of the most stunning upsets of the season.
Despite being without star guard Cade Cunningham, the Pistons managed to topple the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed behind a monster outing courtesy of Jalen Duren.
The 20-year-old put up 22 points, 21 rebounds, and six assists on 9-of-13 from the field becoming the first Piston since Andre Drummond in 2017 to hit those numbers.
He was flanked by Jaden Ivey (19 points, eight rebounds, six assists), Bojan Bogdanović (17 points, 6-of-15 shooting), and Marcus Sasser (12 points in 19 minutes).
The Pistons hit on 11 of their 26 three-point attempts, finished +10 on the glass, and +11 on the break.
Oklahoma City earnt a double-digit lead early which was erased by a second quarter in which the Pistons scored 46 points on 17-of-29 shooting.
Their lead continued to grow and they never looked back as they raced away to their second win from their past three.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 31 on 13-of-20 shooting whilst Jalen Williams (20 points, 8-of-16 shooting) and Josh Giddey (12 points, nine rebounds) also contributed.
The Thunder are back in action tomorrow against the Timberwolves in a battle for the West’s No. 1 seed whilst the Pistons face the Cavs on Thursday.
