Pistons deliver biggest win in franchise history in dominant win over Nets

The Detroit Pistons made franchise history on Sunday in their dominant 130-77 win over the Brooklyn Nets. In beating the Nets by 53 points, they came through with their biggest win ever.

According to landofbasketball.com, the most dominant win previously by the Pistons was 52 points. That came in a 118-66 Pistons win over the Boston Celtics on January 31, 2003 at the FleetCenter.

On Sunday, the Pistons won every quarter. They outscored the Nets 33-24 in the first quarter, 34-20 in the second quarter, 33-18 in the third quarter, and 30-15 in the fourth quarter.

Five Pistons reached double digits in points. Center Jalen Duren of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania led the way with a double-double, as he had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Duren was one of two Pistons with a double-double. Former first overall pick Cade Cunningham, the guard from Arlington, Texas, had 18 points and 12 assists. Meanwhile, point guard Daniss Jenkins of Dallas, Texas had 18 points coming off the bench, power forward Tobias Harris of Islip, New York had 11 points, and point guard Marcus Sasser of Dallas, Texas had 10 points.

One statistic that stood off the charts was the plus/minus for Pistons small forward Ausar Thompson of San Leandro, California. He was a +43.

This was the second time in two weeks that a NBA franchise had their most dominant win ever against the Nets. On January 21, the New York Knicks beat the Nets by 54 points. This score was New York 120, Brooklyn 66.

With the win, the Pistons have the best record in the Eastern Conference. They are currently at 36 wins and 12 losses.
