Pelicans go off for franchise-record 153 in win over Jazz

The Pelicans’ 153-125 win over the Utah Jazz saw them set a franchise record for most points in a game with seven different players putting up a dozen or more in the scoring column as they won their ninth from their past 13.
They broke their previous franchise-high of 149 which came in a win over Sacramento back in 2018.
They also set the franchise record for most assists in a game with 41 on 60 made shots.
C.J. McCollum led the way for New Orleans finishing with 33 points on 9-of-13 from behind the arc whilst Herb Jones added 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
Zion Williamson put up a 17-point, 11-assist double-double, Brandon Ingram had 18 points and six assists, and Trey Murphy III added 14 off the bench as the Pelicans earnt their 26th win of the season.
Jonas Valančiūnas finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds whilst Larry Nance Jr. had 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
A 34-point opening quarter put the home team in good stead for the remainder of the night with a 43-point second frame setting the tone for a second half in which they hit on 31 of their 55 field goal attempts.
They made 23 threes on the night and outscored the Jazz 35-16 in fastbreak points.
The Jazz, meanwhile, slumped to their third consecutive loss despite 22 points and seven rebounds from Collin Sexton and 18 from Simone Fontecchio.
They will look to put an end to their losing ways against the Wizards in the nation’s capital on Friday whilst the Pelicans are back in action against the Thunder on Saturday.
