Patriots sign Jabrill Peppers

According to Michael David Smith of NBC Sports on Tuesday, the New England Patriots signed safety Jabrill Peppers of East Orange, New Jersey. Peppers will be joining his third National Football League team following two seasons with the Cleveland Browns from 2017 to 2018, and then the last three seasons with the New York Giants. We know at this time the terms of the deal are for one year, but we do not know the length of the contract.
In 2021 in the Big Apple, Peppers only played in six regular season games. In week seven against the Carolina Panthers, a 25-3 Giants win, Peppers tore his anterior cruciate ligament, and suffered a high ankle sprain. The torn ACL prevented Peppers from playing the rest of the season.
In limited play from a year ago, Peppers did have 29 combined tackles (19 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, one sack, and one pass deflection. The sack came in the 22-point Giants win over the Panthers.

In addition to playing defense in 2021, Peppers also was a member of the Giants on special teams. He had nine punt returns for 58 yards.
During Peppers’ first season with the Giants in 2019, he had the lone pick six in his NFL career. It was for 32 yards, and came off a pass from Dwayne Haskins in a 24-3 Giants win over Washington. In addition to his interception return for a touchdown, Peppers has 333 combined tackles (224 solo tackles and 109 assisted tackles), 21 tackles for a loss, 13 quarterback hits, four interceptions for 38 yards, 25 pass deflections, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries for 16 yards and four and a half sacks.
In other Patriots news, many are interested at this time where former Patriots quarterback Cam Newton will sign. Many believe he could return to Carolina.
