Patrick McEnroe diagnosed with coronavirus

According to ESPN on Tuesday, former American tennis player Patrick McEnroe has been diagnosed with coronavirus. McEnroe is stating he is feeling fine with only minor symptoms.

McEnroe is 53 years of age and is from Manhasset, New York. Since 1995, he has been a top tennis analyst for ESPN.

As a player, McEnroe won the French Open men’s doubles final with Jim Grabb of Sagaponack, New York. McEnroe and Grabb teamed up to beat Mansour Bahrami of Iran and Eric Winogradsky of France 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6.

In singles action, Patrick McEnroe won one ATP tournament. He was victorious at the 1995 Sydney International where he beat Richard Fromberg of Australia 6-2, 7-6 in the final.

If the last name of McEnroe sounds familiar, it should. That is because Patrick McEnroe is the younger brother of American tennis legend John McEnroe, who has won seven grand slam singles titles himself. John McEnroe won the U.S. Open in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1984 as well as Wimbledon in 1981, 1983, 1984. Just like Patrick, John McEnroe is a grand slam men’s doubles champion as he won Wimbledon five times (1979, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1992) and the U.S. Open four times (1979, 1981, 1983 and 1989).

According to Julia Marsh and Aaron Feis of the New York Post on Sunday, there was a stretch of six hours where there was a coronavirus death in New York every 2.9 minutes. The hardest hit area within New York region at the moment seems to be Queens, where there were 12, 756 cases reported.
