The 16 teams have now been determined for the 2024 Davis Cup in September after qualifying took place around the world this past weekend. There were 12 spots available as a dozen qualifying events took place. Those nations that already qualified were Spain (the host nation), Italy (the defending champion), Australia (the defending finalist), and Great Britain (wildcard team).

The dozen nations that qualified were Canada, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Slovakia and the United States. Canada defeated South Korea 3-1 thanks to two singles wins by Gabriel Diallo of Montreal, Quebec. Diallo beat Soon-woo Kwon 6-4, 6-4, and Seon-Chan Hong 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.

Slovakia blanked Serbia 3-0, who was without Novak Djokovic. Belgium beat Croatia 3-1. The Belgian star was Zizou Bergs who won twice, including an impressive 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over 2014 United States Open champion Marin Cilic. Germany beat Hungary 3-2. German Jan-Lennard Struff won the key match as he beat Mate Valkusz 6-3, 6-2. Netherlands beat Switzerland 3-2. The Dutch were led by Tallon Griekspoor who won two singles matches, and Botic van de Zandschulp, who beat Marc-Andrea Husler in the deciding match 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. The Czechs breezed by Israel, the United States beat Ukraine in Lithuania, Finland beat Portugal, and France beat Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, three South American nations also advanced. Argentina beat Kazakhstan 3-2 thanks to a key 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 win by Sebastian Baez of Argentina over Dmitry Popko. Meanwhile Thiago Monteiro of Brazil (pictured) won two singles matches in a 3-1 win over Sweden in Helsingborg, and Alejandro Tabilo won twice for Chile in a 3-2 win over Peru. In the deciding match, Tabilo beat Ignacio Buse 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
