Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tests positive for coronavirus

Aaron Rodgers of Chico, California, considered one of the best quarterbacks in the entire National Football League, has tested positive for coronavirus, according to Joe Rivera of Sporting News on Wednesday. As a result, Rodgers will not start on Sunday for the Green Bay Packers when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now there is a strong possibility that Rodgers could face discipline by the NFL. According to John Breech of CBS Sports, Rodgers has told people he has been immunized. However, being immunized is different than being fully-vaccinated. Rodgers has reportedly received homeopathic treatment from his doctor which increases his antibody levels. That is clearly not the same as being vaccinated in the view of the NFL, and the fact that Rodgers has been seen around the Packers’ facility without a mask while being unvaccinated, could result in a significant fine or suspension.

So far this season, Rodgers has guided the Packers to seven straight wins. He has completed 173 passes in 258 attempts for 1894 yards, 17 passing touchdowns and three interceptions. Rodgers also has 18 rushes for 47 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
By not having Rodgers available, the Packers signed Blake Bortles according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk on Wednesday. Bortles is expected to backup Jordan Love, who his projected to get his NFL start on Sunday.
It will now be interesting to see what kind of discipline that Rodgers will receive. The tennis world decided not to suspend American Sam Querrey a year ago when he fled Russia after testing positive for coronavirus. Likewise, Major League Baseball did not discipline third baseman Justin Turner when he went out to celebrate a World Series championship with his teammates without a mask after testing positive for coronavirus.
