Our three best tips for the 2025 Genesis Invitational
1 year ago - Sportingbase
Normally when selecting golfers for the Genesis Invitational, you take a look back at results from events at the Riviera Country Club. However, not this year as the tournament was moved to Torrey Pines in San Diego in January because of the California wildfires. Instead, it is important to analyze the results of the Farmers Insurance Open, the annual PGA Tour stop for Torrey Pines. Here are the three golfers we like the most this week.
Jason Day
The 2015 PGA Championship winner from Beaudesert, Australia has won the Farmers Insurance Open twice. Day won the first time in 2015 in a playoff over the American trio of Harris English of Valdosta, Georgia, J.B. Holmes of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Scott Stallings of Worcester, Massachusetts by shooting a four round score of -9. Day birdied the first playoff hole and eliminated Stallings and English, and then parred the second playoff hole to eliminate Holmes. Day won the second time in 2018 in a playoff over American Ryan Palmer of Armallio, Texas, and Sweden’s Alex Noren. Day had a score of -10 after 72 holes, and beat Noren in six playoff holes.
Jason Day is $41.00 to win the 2025 Genesis Invitational. [bet-au-1]
Harris English
English won the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open last month by posting a winning score of -8 to beat fellow American Sam Stevens of Fort Worth, Texas. English’s playoff appearance at Torrey Pines a decade ago against Day, Holmes and Stallings cannot be ignored either.
Harris English is $71.00 to win the 2025 Genesis Invitational. [bet-au-1]
Matthieu Pavon
The native of Toulouse, France win the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open for his first and only PGA Tour victory. There he beat Nicolai Hojgaard of Denmark by a stroke after shooting a four round score of -14.
Matthieu Pavon is $251.00 to win the 2025 Genesis Invitational. [bet-au-1]
