You know the British Open is around the corner when we have the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois. Here are the three best golfers we like this week on the PGA Tour.

Sepp Straka

The best Austrian golfer of all-time needs to be considered big time. The world number 24 is the defending champion as he won the 2023 John Deere Classic by shooting a four-round score of -21. Straka is entering the John Deere Classic in top form. In his last eight events, he has only had one missed cut (the PGA Championship). Straka finished fifth at the RBC Heritage, Charles Schwab Challenge and the Memorial. Even when Straka was +12 at the US Open last month, he still made headlines as he made a hole-in-one on the ninth hole.

Brendon Todd

The native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania finished in second place to Straka last year as he shot a four round score of -19. The 38-year-old is a three-time winner on the PGA Tour as he won the 2014 Byron Nelson Classic, the 2019 Bermuda Championship and the 2019 Mayakoba Golf Classic. It interesting that Todd’s three PGA titles have taken place in three different countries as the Mayakoba Golf Classic took place in Mexico.

Alex Smalley

If you are looking for a darkhorse this week, you may want to consider Alex Smalley of Rochester, New York. A year ago, Smalley tied Todd for second place at the John Deere Classic. His best result this year is a sixth place at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic in March.
