Our three best tips for the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship

The 2023 Wells Fargo Championship gets underway on Thursday. There will be a significant amount of intrigue as we are two weeks away from the second major of the year–the 2023 PGA Championship from Rochester, New York. Here are the three golfers we like the most.
Rory McIlroy
The world number three has won three Wells Fargo Championships in the past. In 2010, he won with a score of -15 and beat Phil Mickelson by four strokes. In 2015, McIlroy won with a score of -21 and beat Webb Simpson and Patrick Rodgers by seven strokes. The -21 and seven stroke margin of victory were Wells Fargo Championship records. Then in 2021, McIlroy posted a score of -10 and beat Mexico’s Abraham Ancer by a stroke.

Patrick Cantlay
The world number four has been criticized as of late for his rather slow pace of play. But the fact that Cantlay takes his time, has not impacted his success as of late. He has only had one missed cut since not playing on Saturday at the 2022 PGA Championship. That came at the Phoenix Open on Super Bowl Sunday. Over the last month he finished in third place at the RBC Heritage and a fourth place at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, alongside teammate, Xander Schauffele, who happens to be the other player we like this week.

Xander Schauffele
The reigning Olympic gold medalist from San Diego is fifth in the world with 5.9479 average points. He has made the cut in every PGA Tour event he has entered in 2023, and been in the top 40 in all nine. Schauffele’s best result was a third place finish at the American Express.
