Our three best tips for the 2023 Scottish Open

The PGA Tour will now be in Europe the next two weeks. As players prepare for the final major of the season next week at Royal Liverpool for the British Open, they will first compete at the 2023 Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick. Here are the three golfers we like the most this week.

Xander Schauffele

The native of San Diego, California has had great golf success outside the United States. He not only won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, Schauffele also won the 2022 Scottish Open. Last year he shot a four round score of -7 and beat fellow American Kurt Kitayama by a stroke. Of Schauffele’s seven PGA titles, he won one other tournament outside the United States. That was the 2018 World Golf Championship-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, China, where he beat fellow American Tony Finau in a playoff.

Rickie Fowler

The native of Murrieta, California is a recent winner of the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit where he beat Canadian Adam Hadwin and American Collin Morikawa in a three-hole playoff. Fowler also had an excellent United States Open last month in Los Angeles where he finished fifth. He has also had great success at the Scottish Open. In 2015, Fowler won the title when the event was at the Gullane Golf Club. He shot a four-round score of -12 and beat American Matt Kuchar and France’s Raphael Jacquelin by a stroke.

Tommy Fleetwood

The native of Southport, England has had fantastic success in Europe in his career. A winner of six European Tour events, Fleetwood came close to winning another at the 2020 European Open. However, he had to settle for second place as he lost to fellow Englishman Aaron Rai in a playoff. Fleetwood was in a playoff earlier this year, but lost to Canadian Nick Taylor at the Canadian Open.
