For the third time this season, the PGA Tour will have an event outside the United States. Let’s take a look at the three golfers we liked the most.
After Nico Echavarria of Medellin, Colombia won the 2023 Puerto Rico Open on March 5, and Matt Wallace of Hillingdon, England won the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic on March 26, it is time for the Mexican Open starting Thursday.
Jon Rahm
Yes, Rahm is a two-time major champion (2021 United States Open and 2023 Masters), and is currently ranked number one in the Official World Golf Rankings. However, this week we like Rahm for another reason. That is because he won the 2022 Mexico Open with a score of -17.
Rahm is averaging 10.7235 points in the Official World Golf Rankings. That is .2797 more points than Scottie Scheffler, who is second with an average of 10.4338 points. In order for Rahm to hold on to his number one spot, he has a lot of points to defend. So, the pressure is on for the Spaniard.

Tony Finau
The Salt Lake City, Utah finished tied for second behind Rahm last year at the Mexico Open at -16, alongside fellow Americans Kurt Kitayama of Chico, California and Brandon Wu of Danville, California. What stood out from Finau’s great performance at Neuvo Vallarta last year was his great fourth round, where he posted a score of eight-under-par 63.

Like Rahm, the native of Topeka, Kansas is a major champion, having won the 2019 United States Open. You could make the argument that Woodland has the best golf resume of anyone in the field besides Rahm.
