Our experts have taken a look over the replays, sectional times & ratings to bring you a list of six horses that you must put into your black book for next start.
SUNSETS
Encouraging first-up effort over 1600m when fourth to Nails Murphy. He lost his spot mid-field in the middle of the stages when the pace slackened and he over-raced and got on the heels of Trosettee which effectively ended any chance of him winning. He then finished on strongly and could have been in the finish. That was his first run as a gelding and he’s in for a good campaign.
GENTIAN BLUE
Her connections might have to postpone taking her back to New Zealand as she’s bursting to win a race. She found traffic around the turn and although she was surrounded by horses she took gaps to finish second to Lincoln Rocks, who had the perfect run. That was her first run over 2000m and she was strong after the line indicating she’s looking for further. She also run eight metres further than the winner.

DENMARK
Former English stayer who is ready to win when he steps up in distance and he also covered ground when he finished fourth to Lincoln Rocks. He kept coming but didn’t have the finishing burst over 2040 metres to win. The Chris Waller trained stayer will also be better suited on a bigger track.
SERGEANT MAJOR
Former Kiwi who made his debut for Ciaron Maher with a third in the Mitchell McKenzie Stakes behind Angel Capital which would have thrilled his new owners. He travelled nicely in the run but was held up before the turn. RV stewards noted that near the 300m he was bumped on his hindquarters and became unbalanced. When he got into the clear he sprinted home powerfully and the son of Proisir will be better suited over more ground.

MURAMASA/IMMEDIACY
The Busuttin/Young stable and the Ozzie Kheir ownership group would have been thrilled with the efforts of their pair of stayers Muramasa and Immediacy to finish second and sixth respectively in the So You Think Stakes. Muramasa stretched out nicely in the closing stages and he’s in for a great campaign on that run. Immediacy recorded the fastest last 200m of the race of 11.66 seconds. Both are sneaky Cups chances.

I WISH I WIN
Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman would have left The Valley satisfied everything is on track for another big spring for this gifted galloper with his fourth behind Mornington Glory. He was beaten for speed and gave away a big start before he sprinted home powerfully out wide where he recorded the fastest last 200m for the meeting of 11 seconds. He’ll be hard to beat in the Manikato and then The Everest.
