The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Rosehill meeting and our analyst has found a pair of 3yo superstars that look set for big things this spring and a boom stayer that finally broke through for career win 2.

Storm Boy

He was back to his brilliant best with a dominant all the way 2.8L victory in the G3 San Domenico. He wasn’t the fastest into stride but quickly mustered and used the rail to advantage to hold a clear lead. He was able to let down strongly when called upon. Not that it would’ve made a huge difference but Hyeronimus did drop the whip at the 300m, which more than anything shows he’s come back a mature horse considering he continued to knuckle down.

The next target is the G2 Run To The Rose at Rosehill in a fortnight where I expect the 1200m to suit him more as well as having the benefit of that run under his belt. The 1400m for the Golden Rose is a little more of a query for me considering how poorly he went last time over 1400m in the Sires Produce.

Autumn Glow

She backed up what she showed on debut in BM72 company but this time in a G3 against the colts. She was the first winner on the day to settle worse than 4th and once she drew level with them at the 200m she knuckled down nicely to produce a powerful finish. Her final 200m was a slick 11.4 and 200-400m was 11.17. It was easy to be impressed with how much she had learnt from her debut run where she was quite green once she hit the front. This time she motored straight through the line.

The Joe Pride 4yo finally executed what many of his loyal followers knew he had in him for win 2 from start 11. After settling towards the rear, he was able to put himself in a great position from the 800-500m, which is always the sign of a good middle distance horse. From there he produced a brilliant turn of foot to record a 1.9L victory and 10.85 for 400-200m and 11.33 final 200m.

There are many options now as I’m sure the stable would be confident getting him out over distance. He is the current favourite for the G1 Metropolitan over 2400m in Topsport’s Futures Market. From what we saw yesterday, I’d love to see him in a strongly run Randwick mile. The G1 Epsom in a month’s time would make a great target.
