Our Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 8/2

The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Randwick meeting. Our analyst has found a pair of Waller runners that will be improving stepping up in trip and a luckless country galloper that could strike at big odds in the future.

Mare of Mt Buller

The Waller mare looks to be in for a great autumn as a 4yo after settling towards the rear and just being held up the top of the straight. She knuckled down nicely to finish 3rd but Point and Shoot was long gone.

Birdman

The European import was heavily supported for his Sydney debut. He hit the line strongly without threatening to finish 2.4L 4th. He’s going to be well-supported wherever he goes next. I’m not sure if I want to be with him 2nd up but 3rd up over 2000m looks like the time to be with.

Tavolo

I’m keen to stick with the country galloper after she never saw daylight until the final 50m and finished 1.8L away in BM78 mares company barely being pressured. We should still get a decent price wherever she lands next. A Highway would be ideal.
