Our Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 7/9

The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Randwick meeting and our analyst has found a pair of runners from the G3 Concorde that look set to win in the lead up to the Everest.

Bella Nipotina

The Ciaron Maher mare is in career best form and she ran a real bottler in the G3 Concorde. After settling off midfield she was caught on the eventual winners heels at the 400m and was forced to switch inside before having to go across heels again to get to the outside. By this stage I Am Me had shown a nice turn of foot and was clear but Bella motored to the line to record a 10.89 final 200m, which was the fastest of the race. As was her 31.81 final 600m.

She likely have 1 more run before the Everest where you’d be confident she’d secure a slot off what we’ve seen since just missing one last year.

Private Eye

The evergreen 7yo sprinter’s return was another impressive performer in the G3 Concorde. He couldn’t go with them early drifting back through the field from midfield to off midfield over the first 400m. Whilst he never looked the winner, he was able to flash home going straight past Giga Kick to record a 32.08 final 600m to claim 4th. The fact he was wide on the track where everything else struggled to make ground on the day made it even more impressive.

The stable have been quite vocal in their opinion that he is a much better horse in the spring than the autumn. I think it was a huge mistake running him over 1000m in consecutive starts in the spring after his brilliant 2nd to Imperatriz 1st up.  It would be great to see him line up again in the G2 Shorts at Randwick over 1100m in a fortnight. If horses are making ground he would be tough to hold out there.

CHANCES ARE YOU’RE ABOUT TO LOSE.
