Our Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 6/7

Our analyst has reviewed the sectional times, ratings & replays from last Saturday’s Randwick meeting & has placed two horses you must follow in our black book below.

Mayfair

The Waterhouse/Bott 2yo debuted with big wraps after a couple of nice trial wins and he won’t take long to win a race after a brave 2nd at Randwick. Tim Clark was desperate to find the rail and this resulted in the 2yo being scrubbed along until the 600m mark. He was brave fighting right to the finish but the horse with the softer run prevailed. The 3rd horse was a further 1.2L away. Should be hard to beat in a similar race moving forward.

Clear Thinking

The lightly raced mare was the real eye-catcher of the day in the Highway. She settled midfield after horses settling in the first 3 had won the first 3 races and was in restricted room after straightening, which resulted in her not seeing daylight until the 200m. She look destined to run a nice placing but really motored through the gears to claim victory.

The time was 0.28 seconds slower than the Midway but considering the manner in which she did it and the scope for improvement at only 3 career starts, she should be winning more races.
