Our form analyst has looked over the replays & sectional times from Flemington on Saturday and has placed his list of horses you must follow below.

EL PODER DEL SOL

The younger brother by a year to ATC Derby runner-up Virtuous Circle and in the same stable made an outstanding debut when he finished third fourth behind Le Zebra. He ran the fastest last 400m for the day (22.61 seconds) and 200m (11.48 seconds) off a slow tempo coming from last.

FREE WILLED

Not much went right for her in the straight. RV stewards noted she was held up for clear running from the 400m to the 300m. She also looked quite green and didn’t appreciate having horses around her. She finished nicely and has a win coming up.

VERIFIER

Easily the best finisher coming last in the 2000 metres three-year-old event to finish fifth behind I Am Immortal. His last 200m was in 12.07 seconds, the ninth fastest for the day. The Nigel Blackiston trained galloper looks like he needs 2400 metres.

THE GOOD FIGHT

Reece Goodwin has picked up another tried horse who he can win staying races with. He fought on strongly to finish third behind Mimi’s Award over 2500m. That was only his second run in and he’s sure to win some races over winter as he handles all going.

ZAC DE BOSS

It was a horror story for anyone who backed him in the 1100m Benchmark 90 as he had no luck. He didn’t held himself as he was slow to begin. He was held up for 100m between the 400m and the 300m. Then when he got clear and started to get into the race he became sandwiched between the horses who were fighting out the finish and was checked at the 100m mark. He finished seventh beaten only 2.65 lengths and should have won.

BERMADEZ/CHERRY TORTONI

Another horror story and he should have finished in the placings rather than in seventh position. The straight was a nightmare for him as from the 400m to the 150m he was held up when he had a lot to give. That was his best run for ages and he’ll go close next start. Cherry Tortoni had a similar run over the closing stages.
