ASHRUN

Stewards queried Celine Gaudray regarding her tactics after she sat quietly on him. She said that he was under pressure with 800 metres to go when the sprint went on but agreed with the stewards she should have placed him under greater pressure. Regardless Ashrun who was having his first run since he finished fourth in the Melbourne Cup rocketed home recording 11.41 seconds which was the eighth fastest last 200m for the meeting.

HANCHI

Not that much went right for the Perth sprinter as he was cluttered away in what was for a sprint a bit of a stop and start affair. He also had trouble gaining a run in the straight. Despite this he still finished with a split of 11.20 seconds which was the fastest time of the day.

AUTUMN ANGEL

She was slow to begin and settled at the tail of the field in a ridiculously slowly run race which was going to make it hard for her to win but it became impossible when she ran into dead ends in the straight when jockey Billy Egan tried to secure a rails run which did not eventuate. She only got clear with 200 metres to go and finished off impressively.

GOLD TRIP

Superb return to racing with his fast finishing third to Campionessa in the Peter Young Stakes. Although he settled last in the event which was run at a slow tempo he charged home and even looked a winning chance with 50 metres to go. He’s in for another great campaign.

ETERNAL FLAME

Don’t drop off her just yet. For the second week in a row things didn’t go her way. This time she settled a clear last from her wide draw and gave away a big start on a day which didn’t play to swoopers. Still she worked home strongly to finish fourth and she’s crying out for 1600 metres.
