Our Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Caulfield 17/8

Our analyst has taken a look over the times & replay’s from last Saturday’s Caulfield meeting and has a list of four horses you must follow in the coming weeks.

LE MANS

Former Irish mare who made an encouraging debut for Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior when she ran on strongly to finish third behind Lovazou. She went back from her outside draw and gave the on-pacers ten lengths with 600m to go. She’s a 2100m winner at Newbury so she will be better suited over further than 1400m.

GO TO HOLLYWOOD

Little doubt he should have finished second and there’s a chance he may have tested the impressive all the way winner Beast Mode. It was a horror watch for supporters as the RV stewards report bears testimony to. He was slow to begin and then held up for clear running from the 500m to the finish when he was full of running. His jockey Ben Allen explained to them virtually wherever he went horses shifted in and out in front of him.

DRIFTING

Used her speed to dominate from the front to win the Quezette Stakes. She ran the fastest of the three 1100m races at Caulfield carrying 58 kilos. She was strong after the line and she’ll be hard to beat in any three-year-old fillies race.

VAGRANT/CASTE

Encouraging returns from both of these mares. Vagrant settled last and reeled off the fastest last 200m for the meeting of 11.12 seconds to finish eighth behind Arkansaw Kid. Caste was given time to settle and she finished off full of running to be in seventh position. She’s in for a great spring.
