Opinion: Seth Curry is an underrated three point shooter

The Golden State Warriors made NBA headlines on Sunday when they announced the signing of guard Seth Curry of Charlotte, North Carolina according to Rogers Sportsnet. We know at this time that Curry has signed a deal for the remainder of the 2025-26 National Basketball Association season. However, the financial terms were not disclosed as of yet.

Seth Curry is joining his 10th NBA franchise. He has previously played one season with the Memphis Grizzlies (2013-14), one season with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2013-14), one season with the Phoenix Suns (2014-15), one season with the Sacramento Kings (2015-16), three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks (2016-17, 2019-20, and 2023-24), two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers (2020-22), two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets (2021-23), and two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets (2023-25).

Seth Curry is best known as being the younger brother of Stephen Curry, the best three-point shooter of all-time. You may not know that Seth Curry is a great three pointer shooter too. In fact he led the NBA this past season with a .456 three-point shooting percentage. Seth Curry made 83 of 182 attempts from downtown. That was a better three point shooting percentage than Stephen Curry, by 65 percentage points. It is interesting that even though Steph Curry has made a NBA career high 9781 three point shots, he has never led the NBA in three point shooting percentage.

You may think that the reason why Seth joined the Warriors is because of his brother. That is partially true, but the bottom line is that at 35 years of age, Seth Curry can still shoot. He should fit very well into Steve Kerr’s system in Golden State.
