Opinion: Dallas sports market will take time to recover from two bizarre trades
5 months ago - Sportingbase
Over the past year, the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys have something in common, They traded a major superstar. The Mavericks said goodbye to Luka Doncic and the Cowboys said goodbye to Micah Parsons. Doncic and Parsons were in the prime of their careers, and no one on the planet thought Doncic would be on the move. In a weird sort of way, Doncic and Parsons now will forever be linked. These were two major stars in different sports who left the same city in the same time period. It has left the Dallas fan base wondering why?

Doncic and Parsons have left to organizations that have rich histories. You simply cannot find teams with richer histories than the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and NFL’s Green Bay Packers. You also need to ask who is the next to leave? There are rumours at this time that Jason Robertson is not too pleased with the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars.

With the Mavericks, it seems that Mavericks management expected more from Anthony Davis. In reality, the 32-year-old center/power forward only played nine games for the Mavericks after the transaction was made due to an adductor injury in his Mavericks debut, and there are concerns heading into this season he may not be even ready for the start of the season after having eye surgery to repair a detached retina.
As far as the Cowboys go, they are 1-1 to start the season. One could argue there is a major hole on defense at the moment. The bottom line is the Cowboys have given up 61 points in their first two games (37 points to the New York Giants and 24 points to the Philadelphia Eagles), and newcomer Kenny Clark simply does not have the resume Parsons has. Now Clark will be aligned with Davis in trying to help the Dallas sports fan swallow these transactions a little better. For the Dallas sports fan, it is going to take a lot of time to deal with these trades.
