On Tuesday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks came away with eye-popping victories that were extremely newsworthy and notable. The Thunder had a huge 119-115 upset over the Boston Celtics, which ended a franchise-record 14-game losing streak, while the Mavericks went on a 28-0 run against the Golden State Warriors in a 133-103 win.

In the Thunder win over the Celtics, Canadian Luguentz Dort of Montreal, Quebec led Oklahoma City with 24 points. Meanwhile, Darius Bazley of Boston, Massachusetts had a double-double as he had 21 points and 10 rebounds.

As of Tuesday, the Thunder had not won a game in the entire month of April. Their last win was on March 31 in a 113-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Celtics meanwhile were able to rebound after their 10-point loss to the Thunder on Tuesday with a 120-111 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. Boston is currently tied for sixth in the Eastern Conference with the Miami Heat at 33 wins and 30 losses, while the Thunder are now 20 games below .500 at 21 wins and 41 losses.

Twice before the Thunder organization had lost 14 straight games. They had a 14-game losing streak while the franchise was in Seattle from December 31, 2007 to January 27, 2008, and again in their first year in Oklahoma City from November 5 to 28, 2008.

The Mavericks’ 28-0 run over the Warriors was tied for the second-longest run in the NBA over the last 20 years according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The New York Knicks had 28 consecutive points against the Raptors in a 108-100 New York win on November 22, 2017, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have the longest run in the last two decades as they scored 29 straight points in a 101-86 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on December 5, 2009.

In Dallas’s notable run on Tuesday, the Mavericks trailed 12-11 at the beginning of the run, and then had 28 straight points to take a 39-12 lead. The Warriors were unable to score a point from the 3:20 mark of the first quarter until one minute into the second quarter. That was a span of nine minutes and 40 seconds without generating a single point. For the high-offensive scoring Warriors team, led by three-point shooting machine Stephen Curry, that length of time without a basket is simply unthinkable.

For the game, Luka Doncic of Ljubljana, Slovenia had a game-high 39 points. During the 28-point streak, Tim Hardaway Jr. of Alameda, California, led the Mavericks with 11 points. Hardaway Jr. finished the game with 13 points.

Dallas is currently sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 34 wins and 27 losses. Golden State is 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 31 wins and 31 losses.
