Nuggets reach NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history

The Denver Nuggets accomplished something they have never done before in the history of the franchise. That is to qualify for the NBA Finals. On Monday, the Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 113-111 to sweep the Lakers in four games in the Western Conference Finals.
In the fourth game of the series, it was another flawless game for Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic of Sombor, Serbia. Jokic had another triple double. He had 30 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists.
At the end of the game, Jokic won the Magic Johnson Award, which is presented to the most valuable player in the Western Conference Finals. In the four game series, Jokic had 111 points, 58 rebounds and 47 assists. Johnson made headlines earlier on Monday for a tweet he sent with the belief that the Boston Celtics “quit” game three in the series against the Miami Heat.
All five Nuggets starters reached double digits in points. In addition to 30 points by Jokic, there were 25 points by Jamal Murray of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, 22 points by Aaron Gordon of San Jose, California, 15 points by Michael Porter Jr. of Columbia, Missouri and 13 points by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope of Thomaston, Georgia.

One reason why the Nuggets were able to pull out the win, was because of two mistakes by the Lakers superstars in the last few minutes. Anthony Davis had a key foul on Murray from the beyond the arc, while James was called for travelling and gave the Nuggets possession.
If there is one area where the Nuggets may be concerned was their lack of production off the bench. They only got eight points from their reserves in game four. That might be an edge for Miami if they face the Heat in the NBA Finals.
