Novak Djokovic allowed to compete at Wimbledon unvaccinated

World number one Novak Djokovic of Belgrade, Serbia will be allowed to compete at Wimbledon in 2022. There were some question marks whether or not he would be permitted to enter Great Britain unvaccinated, however at this time unvaccinated people are allowed to enter the United Kingdom according to Matias Grez of CNN.
The fact that Djokovic is being allowed to compete, but not the Russians and Belarusians because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is being considered a little contentious and controversial at this time. At this time the French Open, which will take place a month before Wimbledon, is allowing the Russians, Belarusians and Djokovic to participate.
Meanwhile, due to the fact that many elite Russians and Belarusians are not eligible to compete at Wimbledon, has not sat well with the ATP and WTA Tour. There is a possibility that the 2022 Wimbledon could be considered an exhibition event with no points being awarded for players over the two weeks. This possible suggestion seems extreme to be honest, but negotiations are headed that way over the next week in Madrid according to Suraj Alva of republicworld.com. The Madrid Open begins Thursday for the women, and Monday for the men.

Djokovic is looking for his seventh Wimbledon title. He is the defending champion having beaten Matteo Berrettini of Italy, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. However, before that, he has the French Open to defend. At Roland Garros last year, he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in the final, 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
It appears that Djokovic will be number one in the world for a while. That is because world number two Daniil Medvedev of Russia is out after undergoing hernia surgery.
