Northam Selections & Staking Plan: Thursday 15th July

Pretty keen to get involved in a few races down at Northam this Thursday.

Race 2 – 12:34PM SHIRE OF NORTHAM MAIDEN (1600 METRES)

Poster Art

Really liked the debut run of Poster Art behind short-priced elect here Freedomofthepress. Really battled on well and looked to only be clicking through his gears late there, with the step up to the mile here definitely to suit. Freedomofthepress gets a little weight swing here but loses Pike for Kristy Bennett, which to me is worth a couple of lengths. Taking natural improvement out of the debut run, Poster Art can take a more prominent position in running here and has trialled well on the soft going so I’m not expecting the rain-affected track to deter him, happy to have something on at that $4 mark in comparison to the $2.35 offered for the favourite.

1 Unit WIN

Race 6 – 2:57PM AG IMPLEMENTS HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Campese

Really like this import for Michael Lane and what I have seen from him so far. Steps onto the track for the first time in WA after some solid Victorian racing. His most recent trial hit-out was superb, the way he let down under light riding on a wet Lark Hill surface was seriously impressive. He does his best racing fresh, winning 2 from 3 1st up including a high-rating 1400m win fresh last prep in Melbourne off a spell of 193 days. Chris Parnham gets a really favourable map here to stalk Time Scale’s every move from barrier 2, and am confident that he can get the better of that runner (and the main danger) late in the piece to signal a win on debut in the great state.

1.5 Units WIN @ $3.00+

Time Scale the main danger, really went to another level when able to find the top last start and if allowed it easy out in-front again here, will take the power of running down.

Race 9 – 4:55PM WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Keep Your Feet

What terrific placement by Simon A Miller here. Keep Your Feet finds his first CL1 in his career, with a 3kg claim for the most in-form apprentice jockey in the state in a very winnable 1st up assignment. Fresh last prep ran 2nd to Madam Torio, before running 2nd to Our Danni, sprinting past quality gallopers Devine Beast, All Day Session and Ghost Who Walks. Watson can lob him midfield with cover here, find him some clear galloping room on the wide expanses of the Northam straight and I am quite confident he can be winning this 1st up for the mayor of Subiaco.

2.5 Units WIN
