Norman Powell traded to the Heat and John Collins traded to the Clippers

There was a three-way blockbuster trade in the National Basketball Association according to Liam McKeone of Sports Illustrated on Monday. The deal involved the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat. The Jazz traded power forward John Collins of Layton, Utah to the Clippers. The Clippers traded shooting guard Norman Powell of San Diego, California to the Heat. The Jazz received forward Kyle Anderson of New York, New York and power forward Kevin Love of Santa Monica, California from the Heat, and the Jazz received a second round pick in the 2027 NBA Draft from the Clippers.

Powell is joining his fourth NBA franchise. He was previously with the Toronto Raptors from 2015 to 2021, the Portland Trail Blazers from 2021 to 2022, and the Clippers from 2022 to 2025. While with the Raptors, Powell won the 2019 NBA Finals. Last season, he averaged 21.8 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game with the Clippers. Powell had a field goal percentage of .484, three point percentage of .418 and a free throw percentage of .804.

Collins is joining his third NBA franchise. He was previously with the Atlanta Hawks from 2017 to 2023, and the Jazz from 2023 to 2025. This past season in Utah, Collins averaged 19 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, two assists per game, one steal per game and one block per game. He had a field goal percentage of .527, three point percentage of .399, and a free throw percentage of .848.

Anderson is joining his sixth NBA team after being with the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat. Love is joining his fourth NBA team after being with the Timberwolves, Cavaliers and Heat. He was a five-time NBA All-Star, and won the 2016 NBA Finals with the Cavaliers.
