NFL Weekly Preview Week 7: Key Injuries, Player Statistical Projections & Projected Upsets

The seventh week of the 2022 National Football League regular season commences on Thursday with the Arizona Cardinals hosting the New Orleans Saints. It is the Cardinals that are making NFL headlines as we begin the week.

Key Injuries

In the sixth week of the NFL season on Sunday, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown of Hollywood, Florida injured his foot in a 19-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and will be out for a month. This is one of the reasons why the Cardinals acquired Robbie Anderson from the Carolina Panthers earlier in the week. In six games this season, Brown has 43 catches for 485 yards and three touchdowns in his first season in Arizona after three seasons in Baltimore.

In Green Bay, Packers veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb is to be out two to four weeks with an ankle injury. He has 18 catches for 257 yards for the Cheeseheads this season.

In Los Angeles, Chargers kicker Dustin Hopkins will be out two to four weeks with a hamstring injury. Hopkins was seen struggling just walking on Monday night, but still kicked the game-winning 39-yard field goal in a 19-16 Chargers overtime win over the Denver Broncos.

Finally, Carson Wentz will not quarterback the Washington Commanders on Sunday against the Packers because of a finger injury that required surgery. One problem for Wentz continues to be his lack of mobility. In 2022, he has been sacked a NFL high 23 times.

Player Statistical Projections

Due to the fact the Seattle Seahawks have struggled so much with their pass protection on the road in 2022, it should come as no surprise that Justin Herbert is the top rated quarterback this week. He is projected to get 304 yards passing, two touchdown passes and 15 rushing yards for the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

At wide receiver, the top projected wideout is Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins. Hill is projected to catch seven passes for 93 yards and one touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. At running back, Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants is ranked number one. He is projected to have 111 total yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Projected Upset

The one team I like to pull off a week seven upset is Indianapolis. The Colts are the 2.5 point underdog at the moment, but have a better for and against ratio than the Titans. Indianapolis is -18 while Tennessee is -22. There is no doubt the AFC South is the weakest division in football at this time with all four mediocre teams still in the hunt.
