NFL suspends defensive end Von Miller

According to Matthew Huff of The Sports Daily on Tuesday, the National Football League has suspended Buffalo Bills defensive end Von Miller for four games without pay for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Miller is disciplined after the NFL did its own investigation because of claims made by Miller’s girlfriend that he assaulted her at their Dallas home. It should be noted that Miller was never charged by police, and that Miller was quoted as saying the incident was “blown out of proportion.”

In four games this season, Miller has five solo tackles, three tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits and three sacks. It should be noted that Miller only played nine defensive snaps in Sunday’s primetime 35-10 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Giving Miller lack of playing time was a poor coaching decision by Bills head coach Sean McDermott. This was clearly Buffalo’s worst defensive game of the season, as the defensive line could not contain Ravens star running back Derrick Henry of Yulee, Florida, who had 199 rushing yards.

Throughout his career, Miller has been a premier NFL defender. While with the Denver Broncos, he was the Associated Press Rookie of the Year in 2011, and then was the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player with the Broncos when they beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016 from Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. Miller had two forced fumbles in the Denver win. The eight-time Pro Bowler was also part of the Los Angeles Rams team that won the Super Bowl in 2022.
