NFL Fantasy Preview: Green Bay Packers

In a 32-part series leading up to the start of the 2021 National Football League season, we will take a look at each NFL franchise from a fantasy perspective. The 12th team we will review is the Green Bay Packers.
When most people think of the Green Bay Packers, the very first person they think of is their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. At 37 years of age, Rodgers is coming off a fantastic season. However when it comes to fantasy football, there is another Packers player that deserves a little bit love too. And I am not talking about their backup QB Jordan Love, but their star receiver Davante Adams.
Just how good was Adams in 2021? He not only led the NFL with 18 touchdown receptions, but the NFL in yards per game as well with 98.1. Adams’s statistical totals were 115 catches for 1374 yards. In a further note, he was a Pro Bowl receiver for a fourth straight year. Now that we know that Rodgers will be in Green Bay another season, as his Hollywood wife Shailene Woodley battles the frozen temperatures of Wisconsin alongside with her new man, Adams should be the number one receiver in fantasy. Period.
So where should the 2020 NFL MVP Rodgers rank? Will he experience a drop from last season with the fact he was hesitant of coming back to the Pack in 2021? He might. However Rodgers was so good last year, he is going to be a stud QB again this year, and should be the number one drafted quarterback, like Adams is the number one receiver.

In 2020, Rodgers completed 372 passes in 526 attempts, a completion percentage of 70.7% (led the NFL), 48 touchdowns (led the NFL), and 4299 passing yards. What was so magical of Rodgers’s season is that he only had five interceptions. Rodgers +43 differential between touchdowns and interceptions is the second-best ratio for a single season in NFL history. The only receiver with a bigger differential is the great Peyton Manning, who was at +45 with the Denver Broncos in 2013 (55 touchdowns and 10 interceptions).
At running back, Aaron Jones is ranked number five. The Pro Bowler was simply marvelous last year in running the ball, as he had 201 rushes for 1104 yards and nine touchdowns. The fact Jones was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, was a surprise, when you realize the fact he led the NFL with 5.5 yards per rush in 2018, and 16 rushing touchdowns in 2019. Jones also had 47 catches for 355 yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to tight end, Robert Tonyan is at number three. In 2021, he became an elite tight end with 52 catches for 586 yards, and 11 touchdowns. As for other options for Rodgers, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling deserves to be selected in fantasy in the later rounds due to the fact he led the NFL last season in yards per reception (20.9). You need to overlook the fact a little that he only had 33 catches for 690 yards in 2020. Due to the Packers’ offense is so potent, he should get a fair share of looks, which enhances his fantasy value.
The Packers’ defense meanwhile is in the middle of the pack at number 16. They have enhanced value when you consider the fact the offense is on the football field as much they are. It is simply Super Bowl or bust for the Packers this season. Green Bay is built to win now. The only concern is whether or not Rodgers wants to be with the Pack, which could interfere with the unification of the organization.
