New York Knicks Fire David Fizdale After Back-To-Back Blowout Losses

The New York Knicks are in an absolute state of turmoil at the moment. On Friday, they decided to do something about it and fired head coach David Fizdale and assistant coach Keith Smart according to CBS Sports.

What has happened to the Knicks in the last week has been quite simply pitiful. They lost 44 points on Monday when they were blown out by the Milwaukee Bucks 132-88 and then by 37 points on Thursday when they were hammered 129-92 to the Denver Nuggets. The Knicks have become just the seventh team in NBA history to lose two consecutive games by 35 or more points.

The firing of Fizdale should come as absolutely no surprise. He becomes the 13th head coach the Knicks have fired since James Dolan has been the Knicks owner since 1999.

After Fizdale had marginal success around the .500 mark in 101 games coaching the Memphis Grizzlies from 2016-18, the Knicks would have been thrilled with similar results in the Big Apple. He came nowhere close to the .500 mark as he posted a record of 21 wins and 83 losses with New York. That is only a .202 winning percentage and the worst winning percentage of any head coach in the history of the New York Knicks.

The Knicks have not yet named an interim or full-time replacement. There is no doubt that this is a position that very few people would be interested in taking at the moment. The pressure to succeed is astronomical and winning is something that the Knicks are not even close to doing at the moment.

New York is currently at four wins and 18 losses. Only the injury-plagued Golden State Warriors at four wins and 19 losses are worse than the Knicks.
