The New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers both went down to defeat on Sunday in week nine of the National Football League regular season. The Patriots lost 37-20 to the Baltimore Ravens in Maryland on Sunday night, while the Packers were clearly upset 26-11 to the Los Angeles Chargers at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The Patriots loss, which was the first of the year, was less expected than the Packers loss. New England was facing one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL on Sunday in Lamar Jackson. Known for his remarkable mobility, Jackson had 16 carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 17 passes in 23 attempts for 163 yards and one touchdown.

The Ravens had the lead throughout the entire contest, as the Patriots fell behind early and stayed behind for the rest of the game. Baltimore improved to 6-2, while New England fell to 8-1.

In southern California, the Chargers displayed stingy defense in beating the Packers 26-11. The Packers had zero points in the first half, only a field goal in the third quarter, and a two-point converted touchdown in the fourth quarter. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers only had 161 yards passing and the Packers only had 45 total rushing yards as a unit.

The Chargers are still one game below .500 at four wins and five losses. This win has the opportunity of salvaging Los Angeles’s season. The Chargers were three and a half point underdogs and the win here could definitely give them confidence as the season progresses.

Los Angeles also got their running game going against Green Bay. After not recording more than 40 rushing yards in any of their games over the last month, the Chargers had a season high 159 yards against the Packers. Melvin Gordon had 80 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and Austin Ekeler had 70 rushing yards.
